hi,i can see there is a huge demand for these fish but i can see there is very few places getting/selling them,it took me a year to get these in ireland,i tried very good lfs and all they got where mayans,i know the winter in the usa was very bad last winter,i had to import some from the uk with the help of a good man and fellow fish keeper chris m,im posting this to see how hard it is to get these great fish and would you class them as rare to the hobby,i know for sure that they are very rare in ireland.

In the sense that there are always lots of people looking for them and hardly anyone can get them, they are rare. Even more so when you look at the fact that the 3-4 main importers only get them on their list maybe once a year, if that. Also, its rare that you hear of LFS s stocking them, so I dont know why the above poster thinks they arent. Maybe he can let everyone know where they all are so those out there looking for them can get them. I got rid of my pair when they took over my 265 and thought they were going to be the only pair in the tank, after killing 13 other tankmates in one night.

Do people have them here? Yea, they do...but does everyone who wishes they could have them have them? No, not at all, and its not because of price...but of availability...especially a spawning pair.

yeah +1, i was lucky enough to get a nice little male from VRWC's pair when he still had them, otherwise i would also be in the group of people who want them but cant find them. they are somewhat available in that importers sometimes have them and you can usually find someone selling fry if you look hard enough, but definitely not common to where you just find them wherever without having to really search for them like GTs or something

My LFS always seems to have some, but nothing else i ever want. Nobody around my area buys exotic or rare species. They can sell 100 baby GT and JD befor they can sell 1 $20 Vieja.
Now im not 100% these are real Red terrors, but they do look like them. I dont have the tank space so ive never been too interested in them. I believe they were $15 for a 3 incher. The store has never let me down yet except for uneducated employees and salesmen.
