I have an older 135 gal tankmade by oceanic and its made of 1/2 in glass. I was wondering is a normal thickness for 135, seems a little bit thick to me. I have heard in older tanks they made the glass thicker, so I was wondering what they make 135 out of now? By the way I love the tank its really heavily built, with my best guess it is maybe anywhere from 15-20 years old and the silicon is still in preaty good shape. I will probaly have to redo it sometime though, don't want it leaking!:nilly::cry:

The tank does have a cross brace though and the brace is made out of the same 1/2 thick glass.

thats the way the older oceanic tanks were built. super overbuilt.

unfortunately today, they are not quite up to that level anymore at least based on what I have seen. other than the glass brace, they seem to be built the same as Allglass/Aqueon tanks now (owned by the same company). still very well built. but not quite as good as they used to be.

problem is, the price is still almost double...:(

I just bought a 72x20x25" tank, it is 1/2" on the front and back, 3/8" on the sides, with a 3/8" thick glass center brace.
