Quick back story, a few months ago I purchased a (supposed) corydoras julii from a lfs for $14, as a juvenile he looked very much like a julii, he had small black spots, was very silver in colour and a very thin black stripe just below his lateral line. As he's aged and grown his spots have connected into a 'maze type' pattern, his black stripe has gotten thicker and darker, and his silver has faded into a whiteish greyish colour. I don't think he is a julii, but a false julii (C.trilineatus).
I like him and hes part of the family now, but I'm wondering if I paid to much for him? The bronze and peppered cories sell for 3-5 dollars each where I am, is 14 bucks a hella rip off for a false julii? Or is it not to bad a price considering everything costs a fortune here?
Also, is there any way I can tell juvenile juliis from juvenile false juliis?
