I live in Pittsburgh and Jardini's are pretty rare around here! If I buy from Aquabid I'm spending 110.00 to 130.00 after shipping. One shop will get 1 in that will be around 10" and sell it for 299.00 and #1 I want a baby and #2 thats an outrageous price right? I have seen in Baltimore the Jardini's sell for about 80.00 for a 4-5" fish. What have all of you guys paid for yours? Also... Are there different "grades" of Jardini? I have seen them with blue fins and tails. Thanks guys!

Wow! That is alot man, The small jardinis at my LFS cost about $59.99

If I were you I'd just look around online for independent retailers, that way you can have it shipped to your front door.

Thats a fine idea but I'm still paying 120.00 after shipping... I have a lfs that is telling me he will go to his supplier and hand pick me a 4-5" jar for 80 bucks. Is that about right then? He says he can also get me a 2-3" for a few less then that.

80 bucks still seems a little steep to me, but I have seen people pay quite a bit for Jar's.

I would say go for it if its what you really want.

What size tank do you have? Are you going to do plants in it?

Just wondering what your setup is. Im getting a 180 gallon soon and either getting a jardini or black arowana.

But yeah, having a hand picked jardini sounds nice. My LFS doesnt do hand picking because the supplier is in another state. They will buy groups though and help you choose a nice one.

Pretty cool that your LFS will do that for you.

Do a search for jardini in the MFK vendor forum. ;)

I'm gonna start it off in a 10g then a 55g then a 125g then my new house with I don't know what.(moving in 6months) I guess It will depend on my better half. She will let me know what the final tank will be.(no less then a 265g) I have a bad case of MTS and I will have to begin to part with some of my tanks under 100g to make room for my obsession.

I don't think a 180g is big enough for any aro? I think you need around 3ft of depth? I mean the fish will get close to 3ft. If I were a fish I would want as much room as possible.

I know a spot. It's a little bit of a drive (about 1 hour from monroeville) but he can get them. I thought about it, but they're so friggin aggressive. PM me if you want directions/contact info.

Elmer's has had a constant supply of silvers lately.

Jardinis get about 24'' so a tank of about 30'' is ok from what I hear. Although they prefer 3' Jardinis also have a larger turning radius from other aros. For some reason, theyre just stiffer fish.

Minumim tank size for jardinis is 180 wich is whjat I'll be keeping him in until I move from my current house in 2-3 years...

Starting out with smaller tanks is what Im going to try to do because I dont want to freak my aro out by putting him in such a big tank when its such a tiny fish!

But Im probably not going to get a black aro because it will outgrow the 180, slowly but surely. But I am going to get a jardini, if I feel that he is to large for the 180 I will upgrade but until that point he should be fine.
