Avocado Puffer tankmates?

My girlfriend and I just finished cycling our 75 gallon planted aquarium and she has just ordered a Avocado Puffer (aka golden puffer) (aka Auriglobus modestus) from the pet store where I work. She also has her heart set on having a blood parrot cichlid. Is there any reason why these two will not work out as long as we have a large enough aquarium with lots of places to hide? Could you also reccomend some other tankmates for these guys? I'd like to put a clown loach, a pleco, and some tiger barbs in there. Thanks in advance!

I just watched some videos of some parrots, and they seem to be pretty slow moving with long fins. Paring one with a puffer seems like a bad idea now. If anyone can suggest a similar but more compatable fish that would be awesome.
 
The avacado we have at work is a Jerk... kills everything we've ever tried to keep with it includeing other puffers. He is a very cool fish though.

Good research! I was about to say that it probably wouldn't work out.

I haven't kept this puffer, but I have read here that they are pretty aggressive. I think it's going to be really difficult finding suitable tankmates.

Pretty much all puffers are jerks. But a BP would make a good snack for a puffer. Terrible deformed fish. God I hate them.
 
I've seen small ones for sale and,not knowing much about puffers,thought that they were a rather peaceful species.Good thing I never bothered getting them.
 
They like to kill everything. My buddy had one that was about 3 inches and it killed a 7 inch gar.
 
My modestus massacred everything in his tank, except a large, Royal pleco. If yours is a juvie, you can try another modestus but do not try this with adults. They must grow up together. Good luck with any tank mates you try--he just may kill them all.
