Don't risk taking a stinger hit. There's a net available that is perfect for catching/moving fish that get snagged to conventional netting material. I use a press-formed rubber net to move fish like rays, large plecos, catfish, and any fish I'm worried will get stuck in a regular nylon or monofilament net. The rubber net is one-piece instead of a woven material so there's no knotted area to snag spines. Plus, the rubber mesh is fairly wide which also prevents snags. Here's a pic of a rubber net.

got to get me one of those

Good nets. I use them when fishing. You can get them at Wal-Mart or any other outdoor store. Im sure youll pay more if you get one "specially" made for aquarium use!
