So I went for a hike in a nearby park to practice identifying plants for my local Flora and Fauna class. It had been extremely dry here and I was not looking for any snakes at all. It always seems like you find the coolest stuff when you are least ready for it. I nearly stepped on a 5 foot EDB because I was looking up at the trees instead of on the ground for snakes. She was a gorgeous pale yellow color and this picture does not do her justice.

As a side note, my boss saw the picture and asked if he could use it for commercial purposes so this image will be wrapped around a fleet of wildlife removal trucks and will be coming to a billboard near you. I was excited about that and thought I would share it here...

Beautiful! Great picture.

awesome pick!!
cant wait to come down there and play with the HOTs :D

sweet!!! hope you used the zoom on your camera!!!

I was about 5 and a half feet away which is just out of her strike range. I used a 70-300mm f/4-5.6 lens for it and was at about 190mm to get this crop. I think my ISO was at 800 or so and my shutter speed was 1/125sec.

When we found her she was in a bad area to get the shot so I grabbed a stick from nearby (The ONE time I decided not to bring my snake hook!) and corralled her over to an opening where she posed nicely for us.

wow!!!! they should use that for national geographic nice quality!!!.......Do you still have your macaw?

Thanks!

Unfortunately no. I had to give her up because I did not have the time or space she required.
