i think there was a previous debate whether or not the pima was really that "red" or if the pic was possibly photo shopped.

Obviously there are various tints of red in the natural color of arapaima that can be accented by the food source in certain localities. (Many of the prepared fish foods you see have color enhancer in them.)

However, pictures taken out of water aren't the true color of the fish. What your seeing is internal bleeding showing at the surface from the struggle to catch them. It's a slow painful death. The natural red is just being enhanced by the blood coming to the surface.
