Sunday afternoon I noticed my Female Ethelwynnae holding. With more males in there then I want I decided to strip her. Found over 50 eggs (No clue exact count). Here is a pic of dad

Then noticed late last night my Chitande Type North male was all colored up and this morning found a 1 1/2" female holding 32 eggs. I figured at her size it was in her best interest to strip her. Here is a pic of the dad

Have to say I am very excited on both batches!! Got all my fingers crossed!

congrats! good news x2 lol

I"m a n00b in the area of malawi cidhlids what do you mean when you say "strip them" of the eggs? Obviously I know what it means but how do you go about that?

There is several methods and I guess you just do what is easiest for you. For me I use a 10" net and hold the female in my hand while I use my finger to open her mouth. Once you have her mouth open you move her back and forth until the eggs fall out of her mouth then into the net. Once you have them all out place her back in the tank. I then use a cup to move the eggs into a small bucket. then with a turkey baster place them into the egg tumbler. I have a tank set up just for tumbling eggs. Which once they are free swimming I just turn them loose in the tank until they are 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch. Then they go into a 30 gallon. Some species actually have larger tanks to grow out. The Ethelwynnae I have a 80 gallon tank I am setting up as a grow out tank in the basement just for these guys.

Those are both really nice, uncommon peacocks. Congratulations.

I live in Maryland and would be interested in trading/buying some of those Chitande Type Norths if you are able to raise them up.

I generally have about 10-12 different types of Malawi haps/peacock/mbuna fry in my basement and any given time. :)

Thanks Mokujin22, I sent you a PM with some info where some of these just got in. If anyone else is looking for some of these The Fish Hub has them. They are a sponsor on here so I hope naming them is alright. I do know they are not listed on the website yet but I know they have them for sure.

Your welcome and thank you also.
