I woke up this morning and found the exoskeleton of my electric blue crayfish. I was happy because he molted, but I looked around my tank and saw my female cray eating him! She cut off all of his limbs after the molt and started to eat him. I couldn't believe it because the male molted in the same tank as her before and was fine. They were a pair too! At least my female is still carrying some eggs. RIP blue cray!

I thought I should post this to show how vulnerable a crayfish is when it molts. Even though there was 20 something hiding spots in my tank, it didn't matter. Crayfish are extremely aggressive!

Here's some pics of the exoskeleton and the messed up cray.

You should provide nice hiding spots so they can molt in privacy. They will wait a couple days to venture out when they are vulnerable.

Like I said above, there was 20 some hiding spots in the tank. The female just happened to find him.

Druu, I was going to use the rest of the cray as a feeder, but just over-night (The night the female killed it) my water quality got really messed up. I think it was there for about 6 hours, and it didn't seem like it would be a good idea to feed it. My water is almost back to normal now.
