They are pretty low maintenance. I think the most important part of their care is the need for lower temperatures. They do best mid 60's but have tolerated higher temps in my own experience. Currently in 67 degree (F) water.
They prefer slow moving water with little current so keep the flow to a minimum.
They eat massivore, shrimp, krill, silversides, talapia. (Cut to size) Don't have to eat very often. Maybe two to three times a week. Also no tankmates is best as fish can harm them or get eaten by the axo. I just keep this pair and should be ordering two more for my GF for the holidays.
The male is about 11" and the female about 8" have had her since about 3" and the male since 7".
Currently in a 40gallon breeder with a eheim 2215 (a little more than enough filtration if not over kill)

Awesome. I got a 40g just sitting doing nothing at the mo.. would love to get a pair of these guys.. I know about no tankmates as the new girl at lfs put a couple goldfish in with their one to keep him company..

Good luck, would be interested in seeing what you get. Also remember to condition the water to remove harlmful checmicals etc (as done with fish).

Just need to convince the missus to let me put the tank up.. only have space for one in the bedroom right now and she doesn't like that idea yet...
