Azul's are 5-7", thinbars are 3"ish. Will the pbass beat/kill the dats? I understand it varies fish to fish but as a whole will they bully them? All opinions are appreciated.

90. they can have hiding spots if need be.

mmm, pretty hard one. I don't think you are meant to put fish half the pbass size with them. I wouldn't risk it and just wait. The pbass grow faster than the dats anyway, so not long and you will need to rehome them again.

I'm kind of in the same boat as you. I'll be moving my 4-6" dats with my 6-8" orino and temensis. It's a temporary move while i cycle a new tank but it still has me nervous. At the same time, I had <1" dats with my 1" orinos and so far they are keeping up with the orinos in growth (only because they've learned to eat EVERYTHING).

I threw a 4" geo with the orino and temensis and he got his tail kicked quick! They teamed up on him and it started to look like a competition between the two to see who could hurt the geo worst.

I'm hoping that with the introduction of more than one datnoid the aggression would be a lot less.

I'd suggest moving stuff around in the tank right before introducing the dats and keeping a close eye on them. If the azuls start to team up on them or show any aggression I'd split them up asap. Hiding spots are a must in my opinion!

hmm. well i'm in a pickle then. i want to move them because the dats are skittish and i feel they would be more active and such with tankmates but i don't want them to get the hell beat out of them obviously. I'm also trying to get down to fewer tank before school starts. might try it on my next day off and keep a close eye on them for a day or so.

I put my ngt in my 120 w/ my cichla and the cichla were about 10'' at the time...just needs a hiding spot.
