My 4-5 inch Azul peacock bass seems to have no problem with any other fish in my tank except if I put in any other p.bass. I have actually lost 2 other 3" to him thinking they were big enough to hold their own. Is there a certain point that they start to calm down or do I need them to be closer to the same size before putting them together?

Bass do better in groups not pairs, in pairs usually one bullies on the other...in groups it spreads the aggression.

I have a 3-3.5" azul.

He at one time had visible parasites coming from his cloaca.

I havent seen that and he has grown, gained color etc since then.

He spends a lot of time either sitting on the bottom - or just floating there about 4-6" off the bottom.

He never begs for food - is only on live - and when I add live he shows almost no reaction. Ive never seen him eat, just seen fat bellies in the morning.

Basically I was wondering the same...are azul just way more chill than other bass? I was hoping he would be a little monster to catch up to my tems...but apparently not.

I've had just one 4-5 inch azul before, he would not take to pellets no matter what I did. He did eat live food voraciously, so that was cool. But by far the most temperamental pbass I've had. He probably would have been better in a group. I'll be getting a group of small azul this week. I will document my experience with a new thread.

Mine ate pellets right away and doesn't even want feeders but he just hates other bass for some reason haha.

Here's a video i shot a while back of my azuls going at it. Orinos and Azuls are by far the most aggressive Pbass I have ever owned.

So something is definitely wrong with my fish - think I should treat for internal parasites?
