ok so im at my LFS an hr ago and the guy that runs it asks me to come check out a fish he was curious about. he points out a bag of "cichlids" he ordered and asks me if they are p. bass and sure enough there are a half dozen 2 inch p. bass. i look closer and see they are different than the ones i have or have seen. they are very light colored and have a blueish head and back and in their top fins are some blue and red speckling similar to a green terror, but fainter. could these be azuls? my camera is dead but i will post pics tomm. (and yes i had to buy a pair for 20 bucks) but if they are azuls, im going back to buy the rest. arent they usually expensive and rare?

They are rare enough that it is unlikely he accidentally got some and doesnt know what they are. They are among the top in rare cichla and even at that size usually go for over $200.00 each. It is very difficult to determine species at that size, they almost all look exactly the same.

ugh ok what i got are by far the most silver/grey ive ever seen. all my other ones were yellowed and brown. these have blueish heads and blue fins underneath with very colorful spots on top fin.

and they guy that runs the fish dept is new and didnt even know there were diff species of p. bass and im just wondering because they are not what he ordered

bad pics and for some reason they look yellow gold and are not at all. i cant find pics of small azuls, but the one i saw had a horizontal bar but these dont. they are far more colorful than my 4 others which were hand picked

what are they? ive never seen anything like them. most peacocks ive seen are yellow/gold and black and brown. these are more silver than anything and have bright colors ive never seen in cichla

Not Zullies 100% sure of that. The look like Mono's I would still be happy if i were you they could turn out to be special.

my question, do they look like more than just regular farm raised mix bass? i can go get more for 40 bucks, but i like fish to be something other than common. their colors really surprised me and im almost thinking i should just go get the rest.

If you really want to get more cichla, get um. If your local fish/pet shop got them in as unknown, Then most likely they are mono's, ocell's or a combo of both. On occasion, you might get lucky like some people on here did.
