i noticed a lot of azuls fs now in the for sale section
did those guys jump on the wagon by buying 5+ of them and realizing they couldnt house them forever they decide to get rid of it?
just wondering? thought it was a cool bass when only a few had it.

All Cichla Are cool for me :) I like some more tahn otehrs.. But If I could I would own a pair of every species ;)

I think people jumped on the band wagon and bought up big in the effort to make a profit later not to keep them all for life, either way, the more rare cichla bought and sold the better, hopefully increasing the demand for more rare cichla and suppliers taking notice and importing more.. Just my 2c on the matter..

They were semi common when they came in 2005-06. I don't think much more will show up for a few more years...

I think next season will be the determining factor. If we see more availability next season then my shoulder is leaning more of the fact that they are bred in an controlled environment being readily available in abundance. In addition the ones from circa 05-06 would definitely be in the breeding size so I'm sure many others on a smaller scale of breeding has already begun the steps of breeding them. Regardless if they are banned from Brazil from export their are close neighbors from Brazil that can export and has the same environment that can have breeders in a pond? I'm sure there are big Azuls neighboring Brazil from breeders who this is as $$$$

Shoot, I'm sure if someone in FLA has a pond and has ones attained back from circa 05-06 they are close to producing some fry.

All theories so who knows.

I still think they are cool but I dont have the room for one atm.
The ammount of people who have a certain type of fish is not what makes it cool. When a hard to get fish suddenly becomes available people are gonna buy them and they have their own reasons for doing it.I have been after this fish along with another type since I first joined here.I hope some of the new owners have breeding in mind.
