Well, I got one a little sooner than I anticipated. I only have the outdoor set-up completed, so now I'm going to have to hurry up with the indoor one since the weather is still a little too nasty for outdoor living.

But I picked up a B&W Tegu today for $50... really sweet thing. But I figured I'm not going to be able to find one at that price with such a sweet temperament if I passed it up. But anyway, I love him already, he's sleeping on my lap right now actually, haha.

The hubby named him Kahn, since we were going for a Star Trek name (sadly, my ideas of Shran, Lore and Nero were shot down).

I'll take some better photos in a few days, but I'm about to go put him in his temporary enclosure and let him chill for a few days and recover from the long trip of buses and subways (and that was not a fun trip, I assure you).

Oh, anyone in the NNJ area know of a good herp vet? I've become really displeased with my current vet and I'd like to get Kahn checked over just because he was re-homed and not bought from a breeder. I'd like to have a vet do a general check up on him.

I'm not sure of the gender, the kid I bought it from was saying "he". I'm not quite sure how to sex them, so I'm just going to go with that for now. And he's a little over 2ft, and a chubby thing, lol.

Over two feet and no jowels showing, it's probably a female actually, but can't know for sure.

awesome!!!
im waiting on mine from varnyard, but when i held some at a local expo it took every fiber of my being not to buy one lol.

Oh, same here! I saw the most gorgeous tegus at an expo back in February, I fell in love. And better yet, the hubby even liked them so I didn't have to beg to get one.

I probably should have gotten one from Varnyard, but hey... so far, so good. I'm lovin' my lil' buddy already!

Awesome Tegu they make great pets! Don't see that many around over here in the UK.

We'll call it a trade... 'cuz you've got all the crayfish species I want and can hardly ever find here. -_-

...I may have to pick a different name then, haha
Try feeling behind and to the sides of the vent, if it's a male there will be some little lumps under the skin that will feel like little BBs. If it's a female, these won't be there.
