Baby 5 lined skink removed from pond . About once a week I remove a 5 lined skink from same pond they enter via planted pots that are around the pond.

They are all let go relocated to other end of yard in loose soil under tree they sit on lilly pads

I dont think any have because they can swim for alittle while and the whole pond is loaded with tons floating lilies like mats that cover the surface .
I have found skinks lots of them and few curlytail lizards all sitting on the pads . I have seen them swim from lilly pad to lilly pad trying to avoid me catching them. I net them out and let them go by heavy soil area

That's cool. Wonder if you have many drown?

Actually davo these guys are great swimmers. In the wild they can be found near streams which they use to escape land predators by diving into the water and holding their breath for several minutes at a time. Nice save!

Never knew that, and I used to have one as a pet when I was younger.

I just found one of these by my office....funny thing is I am in Louisiana and from what I read they are not supposed to be this far west. Is this right? My guess was our sod for the new building came from the FL AL area so maybe it hitch hiked...

Part of the range of the Southern Five-Lined Skink goes into Southeast Louisiana. I guess depending on where you are there, it could just be a native.
