Came home from work two days ago to this.... Tail completely gone and some bite marks on his side.
Not sure who did it?
Water parameters are great. I added melafix. He is eating good and seems to be healing!
Will his tail grow back?
Think he will make it?
Thanks!

Wow thats bad. Id say the culprit is right behind him in the picture, hes looking right at him. Aggression for sure, try having more hiding places and lower temp to 76-78

+1 on the lower temp... but the hiding places for the aro?

i think keeping ur aro in the same tank could lead to a lot of stress... ive dealt with this b4... seperate him or the agressor...

This is why it is highly recommended that baby arowana be raised without tank mates until 5-6" long. Even then only very select tank mates until thye are 10-11" long. Hard to tell for sure from the pic, but it looks like you'll be raising a tailess arowana from here on out.

BTW baby arowana are best raised in temps in the 83-84 degree range.

Good luck.

isnt it good to lower the temp especially when the aro is in treatment?

I had a guy buy a baby aro for $100, threw it in a 10g with tiger barbs, he brought the fish back to us, it was dead an hour later. Such a waste. I agree that small aros need to be kept by themselves until they are large enough to defend themselves.
