Ok.. so I have had my baby aro for just about 3 weeks now... I got him off the live food completely and he is now happily eating pellets and freeze dried krill... Today I was watching him pretty closely and I noticed something I never did before... now... this may have always been there and I never noticed it... It appears that there is a clear "film" or membrane over his gills... its like where the gill ends... and it connects to his body... is this normal or supposed to be there??? should I try to take a picture to show you guys??? I have never had an aro before... and he is growing fine and does not appear to have ANY trouble breathing... but since I am a newbie with this kind of fish... I thought it best if I ask the question on here... please help!!!

he is at work... I wasn't sure if this was just a part of the fishes anatomy... or if it sounds like something weird... if non of you aro keepers have ever heard or seen this before... then I Will take a picture of it tomorrow... but I was hoping you all would say its normal... lol :(

Not sure exactly what it's called but I believe he's reffering to is the part affected by gill curl. Perfectly normal.

I agree, its probably not connected, but probably looks that way as the fish is too small.

sounds normal

^ agree, the outer rim of the gill is flimsy when young. I presume it's a silver because you live in New Jersey so I don't know for sure, but it is like that with Asians, well Indonisian Asians which are farm bred in Malysia anyway.
