Hi I have 3 baby Silver arowanas that are about 2.5"-3" in a grow out tank. It's 20 gallon long with a Emperor 400. Two of them only swim behind the filter and the other one likes to explore and swims into the current and so on. So should I switch out the filter to allow them to swim better?

Other things to note.
-I just got them yesterday from Snookn21
-Water paramiters are good, water temp 82F
-I have the top, sides, and back blacked out
-I have 8 baby guppies feeders in there
-I am prepared with tanks for them (75g, 135g, 240g). Thanks for worrying about it :D

Thanks

i would turn the current down alittle, just for the fact that you don't want them to be useing all there enrgy fiighting the current. IMO.

So how do you think I should go about doing that? Swap filters? Add something to break current?

maybe run a sponge filter or how i have my small black n silver i have a hob filter but my tank aint filled to top so it kinda just makes a waterfall

My juvie aro (6-7 inches) only swims in the area's with current when he takes a rest kinda lays on the bottom and gets the oxygenated water from the current. Normal aro behavior is to cruise the surface with their barbells nearly touching it. I would go with less current.

I see... Thanks, I'll go and swap it with a sponge filter once I get home.

Well the seller told me that the arows were feeding on guppies so I figured better to just give them what they were eating to get them to eat first. Once they are eating well, I can switch them to whatever.

its ok dont make it to strong but it makes them stronger in a way

Yeah but these fish are 2inch, almost fry....I would suggest swapping the filter to a sponge for another month or two.....Then stick on the HOB with the water level half way, causing a waterfall more than a constant flow.....Try placing rocks under the outtake to break the water current....I have lost Arowana fry with sacs and that were under 3 inches to too much current....Most of their energy should be used for chilling and swimming for food at that age, not swimming......
