My baby 3" silver arowana doesnt swim the top water anymore. He spends his time along the bottom almost looks like he tries to dig into the gravel. Spending all his time along the bottom lately. Any ideas? I just did a water change after I saw him doing this. Is this normal? I dont have much experiance with babys.

that is clear sign that your arowana is stress.... i'm assuming your fish isn't alone by itself right? There are established members in the tank as well?

How big is your tank? what are the tank mates?

If the fish is by itself.. then theres some serious issue.. but if its in a community tank. it means something is picking on it.. soon you will see injury and could lead to death..

He is in a 55 gallon tank with my baby red tail barracuda and 3 cichlids. I wouldnt doubt he might be getting picked on by the cichlids. They are real bullies sometimes. I am going to remove them from that tank.

Best advice to follow, keep small arowana by themselves until 5-6" long. Do not mix with large cichlids until the arowana is 10-11" long and 2x the length of the cichlids.

I found him dead this morning. :( I had moved him into his own tank, but I guess it was too late.

sorry to hear that..

Better luck next time.. :(
