First and foremost, I have done weeks of research. I know he will outgrow this tank. Yes I have the plans/place for a bigger tank.

Current setup:
55 gallon tank
1 marineland emperor 400
1 tetra whisper "30-60"
1 heater ( rated for a 75 gal, adjustable)
1 dual output air pump powering 2 10 inch undergravel airstones
2 hoods with lights
1 powerhead/filter (not plugged in)
1 powerhead (not installed)
1 awesome baby SA

Only took him 1 1/2 days to start eating after arriving ( ended up being a 9 hour trip for the little guy! Much shorter than I expected)

Arrived at about 3 1/2-4"

As of writing I have had him for 4 days

Currently will only eat crickets, but that's fine, I'm gut loading with hikari sticks

His future tank will be built after I move in 3 months, a custom 8' x 28" x 3' ( L x D x H ) with sump setup ( sump hasn't been planned out yet)

From what I gather that's about 400 gallons, should be plenty for him, and a couple tank mates.

My apologies if this should be in a different thread.

Nice aro...welcome to the forum.

Congrats, however if you have room for adjustment, I'd make the depth 36" or more.

It's still in planning stage, so ya, I can def put that on the list, although depth was set at an average door width! Thanks guys!

If you build it inside the room, fitting it in the door shouldn't be an issue. Arowanas, especially silvers need more length and depth way more than they need height. They stay at the top more often anyway, and exceed 30" within three years if I'm correct.
