I just got this little guy, he is like two inches. Suggestions for how long he would need to out grow a 10? And what I should try giving him aside from bloodworms?

Also, a general question, what is their growth rate like? My largest tank is a 75, and I know that's considered a little small for this species. I'm just wondering how long I have until that becomes an issue though.

I'm going to rehome it once it grows to large for me, I'm assuming that's not overly difficult to do either lol

Or, if its not outgrowing for a few years...perhaps there could be an upgrade?

Bloodworms are fine, but if you want to change it up...crushed pellets, cut pieces of shrimp, and fish are also fine. They can have a decent growth rate until they hit the 6" mark and will slow down after that. They can average 14" in captivity, but once mine hit 10.5" after about 2 year, I didn't see any growth after that.

Do you think it would be fine in my 75 then? It should be in my sig.

Looking at your tank he would be fine in there for quite awhile. I had a 10" in my 55 gallon and he moved around pretty freely. But keep in mind these guys are nocturnal so then need a big log or thick vegetation to hid in during the day. Good luck with him he is one of tank favorites btw you can hold these guys and hand feed them too;)

That's actually cool then, and since the smallest fish will be the congo tetras....this should work out I guess :D

Now to wait for him to grow.....what is their growth rate like exactly? I'm assuming he would be too big for the 10 gallon once he hits 5 or 6 inches.....and when he is that size he should be plenty big enough to chill in the 75.....I'm guessing this won't happen until like 6 months or so?

I'll try and add a pic of the little sucker tomorrow.
