Can I keep a baby black in 82F? My uncle recommends 88F, but I think thats a bit too high. Also would a 29 gallon by himself be too big? The hob filter is very big for the tank, there is alot of current in the tank, would the black stress out?

I'd say 82 is fine....and if the current in the tank is whipping the aro around I would turn it down. When you say baby do you mean still black with egg sac?

go warmer, and dont use tap water, i had an issue with mine and it was solved by lowering ph and bumping up temp, if its a baby u shuld do 84-86

84F and pH. Yeah I heard babies are sensitive to pH, my tap pH is a natural 7.8. What should the pH be? What pH do you keep yours at?

I've raised all my baby aros @ 83-84 degrees. Baby aros are easily overwhelmed by current, so best to use a sponge filter or modify other filters to keep the current at a minimum.

Just in case nobody has mentioned it, even babies are extreme jumpers. Completely seal the top of your tank.

  1. 84F
  2. completely sealed top
  3. no tankmates
  4. hikari cichlid gold pellets and freeze dried blood worms as treats
Now the black arowana is currently in soft 8.0 pH. My tank pH is 7.2-7.6 and really hard. Should I be worry?

I would just drip acclimate it from the old water to your new water. I have found it easier to get them to eat pellets if you buy the large pellets and crush them up, instaed of trying to feed the smaller pellets.
