New Jersey
Ok so i live in northern new jersey (summit, near millburn, union, newark, etc.). I really want to keep some wild caught fish and baby bowfin are top on my list. I really want to catch them myself tho. Preferably between 1-4 inches. Does ANYONE know where in this area i could catch them, if at all? thanks in advance!

Here you go: Bowfin Anglers-- New Jersey Maps

It might be too early in the year for ones that little, but you may have better luck at the start of summer.

The Delaware River. Mating occurs between April and June. Bowfins typically inhabit lowlands and are common in backwaters, oxbow lakes, and clear, well-vegetated streams. They have a preference for clear water with abundant vegetation but are tolerant of silt, mud, and high temperatures. Adult bowfins usually live in deep water, coming into shallows at night and during the breeding season.

Ok thanks a lot guys... but ive been fishing/ collecting for years and i have never seen a bowfin. It seems as though they are in new jersey, but i don't know where

I grey up in Philly (Tacony / NE Philly) righ along the Deleware River. Right over the Tacony bridge (in Pylmira NJ), there's a creek behind the ond drive-in movie theater called Pennsaukin Creek. Lots of Bowfin there. A simple bobber and shiner works well. Cast right in the shallow weeded areas and lilly pads, sit and wait and you'll catch some. BTW, you'll catch a few Pickrel like this too.
