Hi I'm brand new here and I need some advice! Clown knives have always been one of my favorite fish and I finally decided to get one. I am picking up a little 5 inch ck tomorrow at my lfs and I just want to known if anyone has had any experience housing knives with lungfish. I have a 1.5 foot very docile african lung - once the clown knife hits about a foot would it be possible to house these guys together?

Also, what is the best stuff to feed young ck's? Blood worms? Sinking pellets? I hear something different from every store I ask!

- Thanks!

Thanks I just love clown knives and I want some more movement in my 125! (They will be upgraded as necessary) My lungfish is awesome but quite lazy :)

Also, would it be appropriate to grow the ck out with some pangassius cats, a senegal bichir, and a golden guarami(not a permanent resident)? He will be started in his own tank just in case but i would like to keep them all together in time.

Well like I said the guarami is just in there for now while he is still bigger then everyone else lol but the cats are around 4 inches and the bichir is around 5 so they are all small. There is also a medium size pleco in there but in my experience plecos can live with just about anything so I'm not worried about him. Basically the ck would be living with all fish his own size I just don't know if he would grow too fast for the senegal and the cats or if he wouldn't eat as well in a tank with these guys ???

Thanks :) Thats kind of what I figured. I have had other large bichirs in the past but never senegals, I have heard they are slow growers and don't get that big so he will probably be moved to a different tank as everyone else grows.

Your CK and Lung should be fine providing they're both docile, but keep an eye on them when you decide to put them in together. Dietwise, they'll eat Pellets, Frozen, and Fresh. I don't really like flakes, but that's just me. And it also seems to be ignored by all the CKs I've ever had.

Senegals can reach an average of 12" unless it's an Albino which in that case, they tend to be more around 8"
