Can anyone positively confirm this is a baby D. Pulcher? I was browsing throught the websites of some of the LFS i visit, and came across this guy. ill have to go there tomorrow to check the price though.

The pic is tiny but it looks like a nice Indo to me. Notice how the two stripes on the caudal peduncle are nearly symmetrical and the stripe just before the c.p. is complete from top to bottom? Those are characteristics of an Indo.

i was leaning towards Pulcher too, based on the color, but ive seen some indos with that coloration too. i still may drive out there tomorrow and check it out.

but tailstripes doesn’t mean everything , its the middle bar that is most important. if it sweep backwards down at the end or not.

btw. that big one has a nice high back!

I believe the little guy in the first picture is a pulcher. All of the "wide barred" indos I have seen have a very straight body stripe that ends just behind the pelvic fins. This guys body stripe curves at the bottom and ends just in front of the anal fin, which is much more characteristic of pulchers.

As mentioned earlier, the tail stripes are not really a sure sign of species as a lot of the pulchers that are being seen these days have 3 tail stripes, especially when young.
