Ok I have two little guys. I picked them up liek 2 weeks ago and they were like an inch. They have grown half an inch in 2 weeks for sure. Eating like pigs which is great. Now I know these are too small to sex. Although I am trying to determine if either is a male. Both look like simple whitish yellow and a black bar from head to tail. Now obvioulsy no colouration yet, although what are some of the first signs I should look for to be able to sex these guys??? and at how big?? These two little bastards are all ready going at each other like nuts, thats why I'm concerned. I don't want one killin the other and it ends up the stronger bigger one was a female. I don't know why they don't just stay apart since they have a whole tank to them selves with lots of different hiding spots.

Any things to look for??? colours??? body markings?? shapes?? etc??

Agreed. And what from I have witnessed with the male and female dovii I have kept is that the males tend to grow faster than the female and soon dwarfs the female.

if there fighting a lot could that mean there both males?? I know with most cichlids I have kept (almost all of them) they usually pair up at a pretty small size. These two little buggers are lock jawing and everything. I have never seen such small fish do that. I have had so many different CA cichlid babies and have never seen any of them fight until they got about 3". These guys are barely 1.5" and they go at it hardcore LOL

Totally True !
I received a " Pair of Dovii " from a Master Breeder in Midwest. They were f1 Nicaragian Variation. It was hard to believe that they had spawned at the size I received them but they had. Male was about 3.5" and Female about 3". I have had them for approx. 4 months and they have already produced 3 clutches of fry. They are in a 125 for now and the male is over 6" now and female is about 4"
