Ok, I have a baby Fire Eel I have had him for about a week now and I am wondering what to feed him.

First off he is currently in a 45 gallon, 7.0 ph or slightly less, 80 degrees, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrate, don't know about nitrite but I do 25% WC at least weekly.

He is about 4" and I can't get him to eat any blood worms, which I thought would be best for him. I think he has picked at some of my zebra danios that my room mates baby frontosa (2") killed and thats about all he has eaten. I was going to get some ghost shrimp but the ones at my LFS are probably too big, I may try anyway...

Any other suggestions?

4 inches might be a little small for night crawlers unless you can find smaller ones. Otherwise head to the bait shop and pick up some leaf worms

umm...maybe your frontosas are scarying it so the fire eel wont eat the bloodworms? idk just guessing? or does he show interest in eating? maybe try ghost shrimp or brine shrimp

brine shrimp is worth a try also i really suggest red wigglers you can useually find them at walmart or a bait where there called trout or panfish worms petsmart has them some times to all the spiny eels i've kept loved them

Ghost shrimp might work if there small enough but from my experience a fussy eel won't go for them

Also it might just be getting use to its new tank its very common for them to not eat the first week or so but one it gets hungry enough it should gorge its self on blood worms
