Hello guys. I just bought a baby fire eel, whom is staying in my 55 gal tank at the moment. I've been trying to get it to eat, and so far attempts made aren't really successful. I've tried frozen blood worms, live earth worms, and dried shrimps. It's only about 5, 6 inch at the moment and i'm worry that it will starve! Any suggestions would be appreciated! Thank you.

I had this problem too when I first got mine. The only thing mine takes is night crawler. I would continue with the. He might still just be getting settled in the tank.

How long did it took your to get acclimated/

Unless he is sick he will not let himself starve to death. Again he is probably still getting settled in.

i see. Thanks guys. I hope its the latter!

My pare' Mark has a fire eel. It's well over a foot long. He feeds it nothing but raw shrimp.

Pick up a half dozen live ghost shrimp and toss them in the tank. My fire eel was eating them 5 minutes after he went into the tank.

I was thinking of doing that but im afraid my other fishes will eat them before the fire eel have a chance =[

What else is in the tank with him? Maybe pick up a dozen then to make sure he gets a shot at one, or wait till the lights are out to toss them in.

@zukiGS500: Its staying in the tank with a couple cichlids and a pleco, which I think contribute to why the food isnt reaching the baby eel's mouth.
I went to my favorite LFS today (405 Tropical Fish), and ask the guys about it, and they said that it takes fire eel awhile to get used to the new tank, so maybe thats why its not eating.
