We put these two together in the same tank with a divider today. We didn't realize that "she" (just a guess by the dull coloration) could get through the divider. My husband jumped up to get the net and they started to display breeding behavior, or at least that is what it seemed like. We have been watching them for about an hour now and are baffled by what we are seeing. They are only about two inches long and surely are too young to display beeding behavior...right? If not, then what in the world are they doing?

Smaller and duller, maybe a female?

The most aggressive flowerhorn in the store, hopefully male?

This is the two together after "she" slipped through the divider.

theres no way its breeding behavior. is there?:feedback:
i have 2 that spawn now and have been doing so or acting like that when they were that size

i shouldnt say it is impossible, but the chances are extremely unlikely, im about 98% sure it is only aggression.

and also, usually it is the females that show dark bars during breeding if this does actually happen to be whats going on, of course, both male and female can show stress bars as well, from the aggression.

guessing aggression... i think the minimum size to spawn is 4-5 inches?

Just an update of how these guys are looking. BTW, turns out it was a male and a female. They were just moved into a split 55g last night.
