what size is it now?
i start my fry once released on spirulina flakes.
Why?
Spirulina is a natural pigment food companies use to increase blue/green/black in its fish.
That is the colors we want to enhance in a frontosa while the chromatophores and melanocytes are developing.
Spirulina also works as an antibiotic against gram negative bacteria.
Spirulina ounce for ounce is also very nutrition dense and protein packed.
Course the problem with flakes is that it is messy and clogs filter, so best to use only in a small tank that you clean the filter often, as i do in grow out tanks anyway.
I feed them the spirulina human grade till about 1.75 inches.
At that point they get the same food as my adult colonies.
A mixture of OSI, Hikari and Dianichi XL pro, all with spirulina in the ingredients.
At what size can you add them to your other tanks?
depends what is in them.
Frontosa are shy, most other fish scare them.
do best in a species only tank.
