Is there anything cuter than frontosa fry :) was walking by the Burundi tank tonight and something happen to catch my eye. Saw a lil' 3/8" fry, then another, then a total of 8 of them. So far have managed to net 6 of them out and get them into a 10g grow out. Still have to attempt to get those last two out.

2nd pic is the proud papa. He's about 12"-13" and this is the 2nd batch he has given me in the past 2 years. Not sure of the mom as she could be any one of four breeding age females.

Probably just gonna grow these little guys out and then take them to my club auction once they are big enough in the spring. Would like to keep them but the 125g frontosa tank is already overstocked due to keeping the first batch of fry.

Congrats on the spawns and the little front is a cute bugger.

They are cute at that stage. How many did you get in the first batch?

Good information. I sell most of my frontosas fry at about 1.25 inches but I kept four fry to grow to adulthood. Three are in the 4.5 - 5.5 inches range at two years, a fourth one around 4 inches at 18 months. Really slow growers I think.

They had actually already grown to a good 3/4" already. My first batch was like that too. They are a solid 5.5" and those are only about 17 months old. I think its just the good growth genes from the dad. Had a guy from my club come by today and pick the little guys up. He had some fronts awhile back but had to sell them when he moved and he was wanting to get some more again. So worked out nicely that way I could find them a good home and he was happy to take them.
