my moms dog caught a little squirrel the other day and my mom got it out of its mouth and put it in her garden hoping its mom would come for it. she told me about today and i was saying it probably died. she showed me where she put it and i found it a day later behind a large flower pot stiff. i poked it with a stick only to see it was still alive, but barely.

i rushed it inside with my girl and warmed it up with a warm towel. then got a blow dryer to gently warm it up. it started breathing more normally. we made a little set up for it with a basket and a light bulb and put it in a warm room. i read online what to do and picked up pedalyte for it. it drank some of it from a syringe.

right now it seems to be resting i hope it pulls through the night. it had rained last night too and got a little cold so i was surprised it even survived.

im looking online for local agencies that will take it if they even will because it is such a common animal.

That was very nice of you to give that little guy a chance. I've never rescued one but my friend has several times and raised them all to adults. I will ask him what he used for formula. Good luck and I hope it survives the night.

cool!! pics?

let us know how it turns out. i want to do this but with a flyin squirrel thats around here

unfortunately it died early in the morning. my girl had contacted an emergency site and we were going to bring it to a professional rehabber today. it was taking well to the pedaltye and i was going to get the epsilac for it too.

the problem is he spent a full 24 hour day out in the cold/rain and suffered from a dog bite. i couldnt understand the extent of his injuries since he was furred.

it seems like a waste. revived him just to die. we really tried though
