I bought this little guy at Petco (I know, I usually don't buy fish there but they just remodeled the fish area so i had to check it out and I saw him and he stole my heart) he was labeled as a "green and yellow spotted puffer". He is about an inch long with tail extended. When I first got him he was about half an inch. That was about 3 weeks ago. Do you think he is a GSP or dwarf?uploadfromtaptalk1398872610892.jpg

Dwarf aka "pea puffer" never seen a gsp that small and the pattern is off for a gsp

That is a dwarf puffer. some times called pea puffer or indian dwarf puffer.

That's what I thought too. I researched them and none of the pics matched up. So he's as big as he's going to get? They only get about 1" right?

Also, where do I get snails small enough for him? Or is there something else he can eat to keep his "teeth" filed down?

Yes they only reach about 1". They do not need snails like other puffers. They will eat snails but don't need them to keep there teeth trimmed down. I used to go to go to fish shops and they are usually happy to give me snails. I started breeding them my self in a 10 gallon. get the pond snails not the malasian trumpet snails. the pond snails have softer shells than the MTS.

+1. I totally agree, especially about the snails. Even my GSP had problems with the MTS. I just bread pond snails in my 10g shrimp tank. If you breed them yourself then you can snatch up the young ones when their small enough to feed to your dwarf. Good luck with him! IV always thought about getting one.
