Hi,

Ive just come in from shopping and ive found that my four guppies have turned into 12, i wasnt ready for this

can anyone help me with advice on what to do next as i dont want to loose them, i brought the guppies about 2 weeks ago, so she must have been pregnant when we brought them?

Thanks to anyone who responds

Rik.

leave the fry in the tank if you dont want them. the parents will eat them. if you want to try to raise some, make sure there are tons of floating plants for the fry to hide in. they will also pick at the tiny organisms living on the plant. you can also hatch some baby brine shrimp and the fry will eat the daylights out of those. once they get a little bigger, they will move onto flake food on their own. guppies are pretty hardy

I always put fry is a seperate tank. guppy fry tend to venture out of hiding when the lights are out and get eaten. If the tank lights are on they will hide and rarely come out of hiding.

guppies are live bearers.... and they multiply themselves like theres tomorrow. hehehehhehe......

you can keep the young ones together with there parents as long as the space are quite enough for them...

happy guppyfishing......:headbang2

Like the fella said' if you really want them to survive put plenty of plants in the tank. Make sure you get some plnts the float on the top of the tank so the fry can hide. The females will fall pregnant a number of ties with out male being present. It's traite they have.

If you wnt to relly keep them in the same tank you cn get breeding trap. A couple of quid on ebay or ya local pet shop. Or another solutions is to seprate them in to a breeding tank.:nilly::WHOA:

Just separate them from fish that will eat them (all of them) by putting them in another tank, adding a tight fitting tank divider or a breeding box
or just make sure there are a lot of hiding spots (java moss is good)and no Real predators (monsters you may be growing out). Mine eat crushes flakes and blood worms (freeze dried) and do just fine .
