Hi, I might be breeding guppies in the future and I was wondering what you would feed them. I have heard baby brine shrimp and flakes. Do you recommend these? If not then what do you recommend?
Thankyou!:):):)

Just feed the flakes and maybe some sinking pellets. My fry swarm em. And some algae in the tank for grazing. Honestly just leave them in with the parents so some get pick off. You'll end up with tons of fry. Unless ur breeding for feeders or show quality and growin out.

you can also get liquid fry food like small fry if you want to be hardcore

What size tank are you planning on? Instead of pairs one male to 2-3 females is better and even then the male only needs to go in every 2-3 months or so (females can get aggressive with obnoxious males) the females can store sperm and make themselves pregnant for months at a time. One group of guppies can do well in a 10-20 gallon tank with proper filtration. They dont produce alot of waste just keep up your water changes. You can also remove the babies and place them in a larger grow out tank, remember the more space the faster they grow. :) crushed flake food is fine for guppies. There are several powder and liquid fry foods available at lfs though. Good luck! :)

get your normal flake food and put it in a ziplock bag. Rub it between your fingers till its the consistency of powder. Dip about 1 cm of a toothpick in water then bury it it the powdered flakes. The powder will stick to it and then just dip it in the water. That is what i do for my guppy babies.

I bought a few guppies recently and noticed one was getting pretty fat. Sure enough, she was pregnant and later I saw the tiny little guys in there and the other fish were munching on them. I pulled out 11 that I found and moved them in a little plastic tank with an air stone and feed them crushed up flakes and they have tripled in size in a week. Those flakes aren't the be all end all, but I think they are sufficiently diverse to feed guppies although I'm sure some would disagree.
