is this normal both are about an inch but the convict is chasing and biting him i thought the jags would be able to handle being with a convict

pretty normal, considering that cons will be aggressive too, but at equal size they can be dominant over similar sized fish

Man if convicts were able to grow at least 12in. They will be a force to be dealt with. They can be some mean little s.o.b. Jags wont start getting aggressive till 5-6 in. I mean once and awhile you can see them flare up but convicts do it all the time.

so this is normal i got this guy at petsmart so i was thinking maybe it's not a jag the fist one i got had the markings but my oscar ate it. he never bothered any smaller fish before he freaking swallowed it in one gulp so i set up a 20g for a grow out til it gets bigger. then i was gonna put it in my 125g but my oscar has gotten really mean he bites me when i try to go in the tank he destroys all plants and rips the heaters off the glass. so i dunno if i'm gonna be able to add this fish the only fish he won't go after is the red devil the went in the tank at the same time

Well, if you are putting smaller fish in with an oscar thats bite size it will get eaten. 120 G is fine for a RD and Oscar, I wouldnt add to it. The Oscar is just bullying new fish that are smaller. Its kinda difficult once a big fish has established the tank as theirs, they will not tolerate other fish.

yeah thats what i'm thinking if i try to add the jag later when he's bigger they prolly gonna fight. but i wanted more then just my oscar and devil in the 125g tank seems empty. i wonder if when adding a new fish if i removed the oscar and added him with the new fish if that might work. i done that when i got a new piranha and added to my shoal worked great never had a problem

my baby jag is about 2" and he is a wussy. he wont pick on ANYTHING. but when get bigger im sure he will put that convicts in his place.

Yeah, eventually the Jag will beat that crap out of the Con. Your idea seems worth a try, move the Oscar and allow the other fish to settle in and put the oscar back. But try with a bigger Jag. A little Jag will not be able to maintain. If you wanna start with a small Jag, let him grow out more. Put a divider so the Con will not bother it.

I know what you are saying when you say the tank looks plain/boring. What you can do is add some small schooling fish or something meanwhile to add some movement in the tank, that way it wont be boring. But there is risk of some of them being picked off by the RD and Oscar.

the red devil is really a mellow fish it don't bother anything it has never fought any fish it has been with i got a nice bigger jag about 3in i'm gonna grow him out a bit i want to keep these 3 together if that's not possible i would keep the oscar and jag and move devil to a 65g but i don't think the o is gonna live with the jag he is very aggressive for a oscar he has killed every new fish i have tried.i'll grow the jag in my 65g for a bit then i'll move the o to the 65g for a few days and move the jag in with the devil if that goes well i'll move the o back in.
