Ok after 5 months of waiting I got two Jags. They were like 2.5 inches and are now about 4.5 inches. I bought 2not knowing the sex, and now they are acting like they are spawning. They both have their little tubes out and everything, it's really funny cause they are so little.
One does have a huge belly(who I thought was a male...wrong) and has a bigger tube, and the other fish has a much smaller tube. They have picked out a site, and are serious about keeping others out!
I have never had fish like this spawn, only tetras, corey cats, and live bearers...so this is exciteing for me. I wondered how long do they usually cort each other before they do the deed? Are they big enough for this, they are still so small.
I highly doubt any offspring will make it, due to the other fish in the tank, but it is exciting that maybe years down the road I may be able to raise a few of them.
Any thoughts?
