My new baby jags were on my doorstep today when I got home from work! I'm pumped. All I have now is the pic of the bag floating, I'm trying to stay away from the tank tonight till everyone is settled in. I'll post more when I can get some, they're quick little buggers.

about how big are they? I've had a baby jag for a while now Im growing out for a friend...its not growing as fast as I remember mine did.

There's 10 of them. All between 1-1.5". Dunno how long it's takes for them to be full grown but I'm hoping they hit sexually maturity round 9 months or so. I'm not too sure but I think someone told me that before.

Too early to tell male or female but out of 10 jags, I hopefully have a male stunner in there somewhere. Same goes for female, nothing but A grade gets bred, I'm tired of seeing almost no gold coloration in the jags in my lfs, so I had to order online. Can't believe I just ordered them on Sunday and they were here by noon today.

They'll breed by 4-5" if they have anything to say about it, lol. When I had my first jag, it averaged 1-1.25" a month but that was because I was doing 50% water changes about twice a day and fed it guppies and worms on top of the basic pellets that he was getting. Got him as a 1" fish and the boss of his brood and grew him out to 6" sl in 4 months before I had to give him away to a friend with a bigger tank. I was growing him out in a 10 gallon, thus the major water changes.

Funny thing is, when I finally got a bigger tank, 55 gallons, including an outdoor summer pond, I got another jag. The second one, despite having more space and with me having more experienced, grew only .5-.75" a month. He was killed by another fish while they were in the pond despite it being over 1k gallons.

I feed hikari pellets and flakes, because there are other fish in the tank...I have a female of my own who is about 8-9" really nice looking, she was about 1.5-2" when I got her and she's now about 8-9" and it only took about 9 months. I've had this one for my friend since maybe October if not September and I haven't noticed any real growth
