any help on keeping these fish I plan on getting one sometime this week to try and raise it from this young stage. I heard it was very difficult and there is a high chance of it dying. Some of you hardcore arowana fans on here have probably dealt with fry before unlike myself. I know good water always helps. Any help with the foods, lighting, tank decor that may affect stress of the fish would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

get a tightly closed hood. when i had 5 baby jardinis at the same time 2 jumped out and found them crispy the next day.

I would keep it in a small tank (10g) or something close to that size. Make sure there is no way for it to jump out. Good aeration.
Sponge or something on the suction of the filter to make sure it wont get sucked to it. Water 80-82 degree. and feed 3 times a day live brine shrimp, tubeflex worms then gradually once its eating well try some dry food. I find that at this size a very minimum water change really just top off the tank every couple days for a couple weeks until the fish is stable. Once the fish starts eating good, you should be ok

I got one that size a month ago, it is now 3.5" long. I keep it in a 10 gal alone until it's a bit bigger. Make sure to feed it atleast once a day, I also do water changes every 3-4 days. Also, don't worry about starving it on to pellets yet, just feed it what it will eat until it is larger.
And be careful when doing water changes when they're that size.

I started out with my jardini at 3inches in my 46g, he's around 6 now and has been great to keep! I started out with what the lfs fed him so he would have one less thing to stress about then slowly got him into frozen chunks of brine, crickets(about 50 a week!) and superworms. I have 2 filters that are rated to a 150 gallons and plenty of air. I don't think you have to go quite as far as that but sure does make happy and healthy fish! And in a few weeks my DIY tank will be finished and he'll be in there!
Also when I was picking him out looked for the one with the most color, good looking tank mates and I also asked the lfs to feed him.

keeping it in the 50 by itself is a very good choice. With the higher volume of water the parameters are much more stable. You will also only need to do a small water change once every couple of weeks to keep the nitrates below 10ppm. It will not have any trouble finding food, just feed in the same area each time. With a arowana that small it is best to feed small amounts 5 times a day.

The 50 would be best, as long as there is no other fish in the tank as it is recomended they be raised alone. Just watch it to make sure it is actually getting the food. If you feel the need to get something to clean up food the aro misses, I recomend something like apple or 'mystery' snails as they cannot harm the aro and won't really compete for food.

Sweet. All this info. will be helpful. It'll be in the tank all by itself with plenty of filtration, so it should be happy as well as myself. :headbang2
