Hey all . Just got a baby jurunese and i think he may have ich . Hes only like 2.5- 3" right now and hardly ever goes to the bottom of the tank he snags bloodworms out of the air but leaves the rest on the floor so i guess the questions are how much salt can this fish tolerate and is that normal behavior for a jur that size ??

my guy is always at the bottom... I've gotten mine to take small pcs of shrimp, but you have to becareful not to overfeed or he'll puke it all up.

Guess a bunch of us got babies. Mine kinda hangs out on the bottom, gave him a flat rock to do his tripod thing on. He is like 3-4 inches but Im not sure he is eating since he is in the pond and its tuff to tell what if anything he heat when the lights go out. He does way more free swimming than my 8 inch TSN so Im happy about that but still pretty mellow right now. Is the ick visible, Great post on hear if you do a search on heat and salt cure for ick that gives detailed info.

Yes he has some white grains on him just a few but better safe than sorry .I know how to treat ich just have never treated a 60$ baby catfish before , I dont know there tolerance to it .I`ve looked around but cant find specific answers so i come to the place where actual people have had them and treated them the mighty MFK

gotta love petland fish:ROFL: Sorry. But honestly I would treat it like a clown loach be very very careful. Do little doses over a period of time. Just to be on the safe side. If it was the one I saw at petland it is doing exactly what it was doing there for a week just like what it is doing at your place. I think that makes sense. Anyways I think your in the clear with the behavior but the ick. I did not see it on him when I was there this morning talking to veronica. Anyways best of luck you two with that cat. it will be quite a looker when it gets bigger and I call first dibs if you want to sell it later:ROFL:

Mine also got this problem...but size about 3~4" I put some whitespot solution inside with salt & heater...yet to recover..but it is still doing fine for the moment....I think that white spot and ich is different stuff...mine got ich which i got some problem curing unlike the common white spot that is due to stress....

Have you thought about some sort of medication? Maybe Rid Ich? It says its safe for catfish but use 1/2 dose though.

my lil jurunese stayed at the top back of the tank behind the bubbles for a couple weeks, i scared him out of there one day with the net and got him feeding and he stays out in the open by his rock all the time now. Hes growing fast!
