good looking gar hopefully he becomes a monster one day! This is my monster in the making, his name is jerry GARcia and he is about 17 inches

I got a new long nose gar couple days ago but its not eating anything.
its in a 1000gallon inter pool with a silver aro,three oscars and a tsn .
all these fish are around 5".my gar won't eat .he hides in corners and doesn't bother with any food I drop in.pls help tnx

tnx I try dropping sinking pellets ritz's in front of him but he still won't eat .
in the last week he ate 2 guppies I released right in front of him.does anyone know how long it takes to get them to start eating blood worms or pellets?tnx for the help

U could try starving it. If it ate only guppies it might not any other foods... so if u don't mind giving it live fish keep on giving it. But if u don't want to use live foods(like me) try to starve it for about 3-4 days or maybe even a week.
It'll start to eat. I feed mine small pieces of cut shrimp or raw fish.

its around 7 -8 inches not 5 like I said in my first post.I tried giving him cut shrimp a few days back but he wouldn't eat.i don't like feeding guppies to any of my fish so I want to get the gar on a different diet,prefferably pellets or shrimp.is there any specific type of shrimp I should try feeding him?
