hi guys got me a baby mbu at the weekend about two inches, he is awsome and settling in to the growout really well, just looking for advice on growing out and caring for such a small mbu.

havnt seen him eat too much yet i know they have a well varied diet and especially like crustations but what should i be feeding at such a young age will he eat snails etc.

what sort of growth rate should i be expecting

does he have any special requirements of any type

all help, tips, hints much appreciated

thanks

A HUGE Tank. I don't have a lot of experience with MBU, they reach 26" and produce alot of waste. Therefore a very large tank with heavy filtration. They are one of the few which can get along with tankmates.

Wait for PufferPunk to reply, owned one before I believe.

GL and be ready to upgrade.

very sad story. (the one manutius wrote)

i had mine for a year n ow and its in with a flowerhorn in a 92 gal corner tank. my kids love it and is doing great i feed it frozed krill shrimp and crab legs, yes it does eat alot and ours takes it out of our hand good luck its not a fish but a pet.

What are your plans for upgrading? Both those fish are going to need a much bigger tank--sooner than later. I suggest varying it's diet more than that. Krill is known for causing lockjaw in puffers
