Acquired this CAPTIVE BRED ray 1 week ago. Size about 3.5" in disk diameter. Currently he's in a 20 gallon QT tank with a small WC aro that has been there for 5 weeks now. No meds for the past months the tnak is running.

Feeding: 4-5 times within the week with frozen bloodworms

Water change : 3 times this week at 25% - 50% each time

Water: Ammonia 0, Nitrite 0 , Nitrate 10 ppm, PH 7.0, Temp 82 degrees

Abour 2-3 hours earlier, I notice his disk is curled quite severely. I amcurrently prepping 7 gallons of water at 86 degrees for water change. I added 2 tablespoon of salts and dechlorinator with the new water.

During that time, I bumped up the temp in tank to 85 degrees and so far the curl had reduced siginificantly.

I am doing a water change within shortly once the new water reaches 86 degrees. I will also add some ketapang/indian almond leaves and some air stones to increase the amount of dissolved oxygen.

Anything else I need to do ?

Feedback and additional input are appreicated.

stan

NOTE: Pics are taken AFTER the tank temp were bumped to 85 degrees.

do you have any pics of it's underside?
What are you using for testing your water? strips or chem kits?
(no disrespect but are your water pims accurate that your stating,,,,it's very important to know,,,some people don't want to say they're off,,,,or they give the pims after a change)
Have you seen it eat?
Is it breathing very heavy?
right now, I'd say control your panic,,,,keep up the water changes.
you can add more salt along with your water changes, go to 4 tbl spoons.

The underside is perfect, no rash, no redness or any out of ordinary characters.

I am using AP PH kit (liquid), Salifert Ammonia, Nitritie and Nitrate (titration style)

Yes, I have seen him eat bloodworms

It was breathing heavily and now breathing VERYY slowly

I just did a water changes with 2 tablespoons.

Quite honestly, I don;t think he's going to make it.

Flamenco,,,,,,,blood worms, well left overs can knock water pims off,,,,,,kill the lights, let the ray chill,,,,,, keep an eye on it.............Doing too much to the tank can stress it out as well. If it's breathing seems normal, give it few hrs and then see if it'll accept food. If it does , I'd say you're gonna be OK, just keep up the water changes.
Bogwood,,,,,,,,,,new shpment,,,,,,,,,,it's up in the air , it could be internal parasites...........no clue here.

The little guy passed last night. I never left any un-eaten food.

I know he eats because the only tank mate (aro) never take any food once it reaches the bottom floor.

I think it may be due to the age and being so fragile as a baby

Sorry! One week old is pretty young...

I'm so sorry for your loss, Stan. I could only imagine what losing a ray would be like. :(

I noticed you raised the temperature; is this the appropriate response when the disc begins to curl? I get worried that, in the future, one of my rays might have it and I won't know what to do.
