I got a lil baby tiger oscar on Tuesday, and he looked rough, he had torn fins and his dorsal fin and top of his body had a brown tint that looked like scar tissue to me, but although it had only been 2 days last night his fins are nearly healed but the brown is still there. He is other wise happy, extremely hungry, and since I've had him the orange has really started to shine. Also can anyone verify that the 3rd pic is a pearl cichlid?

you'll find that O's underneath the red and black stripes, will change colour to match environment and due to stress also could be tissue healing, he looks healthy enough and has some unique markings!!!
Let him settle in then report back with pics!!! HTH

yeah nice little O and its not scar tissue its just his body color, unless he is supposed to be an actual red O (which he isnt, he is a tiger) then they dont get red all over their body, only in some places. their colors also change drastically as they age so dont be surprised if he looks totally different as an adult. and if by "pearl cichlid" you mean a carpintis then no it is not that, it looks like some type of geophagus or nicaraguense, does he stay around the bottom most of the time?

Sorry, by pearl i meant "Pearl Eartheater ~ Mother-of-Pearl Eartheater ~ Brasiliensis"

do you have an idea as to which one?

It'll fine just gibe it time to settle in.

lovely fish, and don't worry about the patch.
I aggree it mat belong to his normal colouration and markings.
Keep us posted for you got a very outstanding baby.
Hope his pattern and colour doesn't change to much.
But you never know with oscars!
