Howdy, I have a 35 Gallon Tank, with a divider in the middle. I have an Oscar on both sides. 1 is 1.5 inches long, the other is about 2 inches long. I seperated them about 2 weeks ago because they were fighting a bit, probably due to the tank being too small. (I'm getting a 125 in less than a month so don't worry)

ANYHOW, my larger Oscar is doing great. My smaller one come out whenever i feed him, eats until his belly is full, and then disappears. He goes and hides in the corner of my tank. He lays on his side sometimes and breathes heavier than fish normally do.

Any idea whats making this little guy do this? My water is fine, i test it very regularly. The temperature goes between 78 and 80. They both eat at the same times, and both eat till full, except the one goes and "lays" down in the corner...

I'd say he's probably fine. its not uncommon for baby oscars to be kinda lazy, and very young are known to cower sometimes. as long as he's eating, and not displaying any other physical symptoms (or hanging out upside down), he's probably just fine. make sure to keep up with frequent water tests/changes. I don't profess to be an expert, . I lack a degree in veterinary medicine (but I have owned several oscars), so somebody else may have better info than I...

post some pics, if you can

I took a closer look today, and it looks almost like he has white spots on his mouth. I know it isn't ick, or any sort of rot....not sure if its normal or not. unfortunatly, i cannot provide pictures.
