baby oscar with gill problem

I have a baby oscar and got 2 of them wasnt paying attention but one of the ones the guy picked one out with one of his gills are open he breaths normal and acta fine but it looks like hes missing a part of his gill is this treatable if not wen he grows will it get better any tips much appreciated

It looks likes it is missing part of his gill cover. It will be fine without part of the cover (as long as nothing pokes it). I've seen a full grown asian arowana in a public aquarium with a much larger piece of the gill cover missing, and he's been in there for years.

Seen a lot of fish with missing gill plates, most seem to do fine
