I just bought 3 baby oscars (each is about 1.5 inches long). I got a red, tiger, and an albino of some kind (not sure if its red or tiger because there is almost no pigment aside from the eyes). They were all ordered from the same company as "fancy assorted oscars", and my LFS had them all in the same tank. Since I brought them home and put the three of them alone in my 85, the red and the tiger have been hanging out swimming together and not leaving eachothers side at all. The albino is just all on his lonesome cruising around. Could it be that I possibly have a male and a female and they are pairing up this young or are they just more social than the albino one?

3 Oscars in a tank, usually 2 of them will team up/pair up and bully the 3rd, at that size they are to young to pair up. Keep an eye on them, I fear they will eventually pick on the 3rd one. The Bigger problem is your tank, it is only big enough for a single adult Oscar not 2-3. Is your tank cycled?

I know my tank will be too small eventually, but not for a while. I got 3 so that my tank didn't look so empty hahaha I will probably be getting a fourth of the same size. As they grow I will filter them down to the 2 that I like best and keep them as long as possible. my tank is 6 ft long so I have enough swim space for them for quite a while. until they hit almost a foot long I wager. Oscars have to be the most adorable baby fish though hahahaha Would getting a fourth one keep the buddies from picking on the albino?

Your guess is a good as mine. Juvenile oscars can be quite territorial once they hit about 3-4 inches. I had 3 in a similar size 6 footer until recently. They had their moments, but are now in an 8x2x2 and seem quite relaxed together. You might find with 4 there will be quite a few more battles. They're interesting fish though. Good luck
