The Rex
Just bought two of these little guys about one inch each. I am not sure what kind they are but i'll post pics eventually so you can identify them for me. Just wondering what i should know about these guys , they will be the only ones in my tank...hoping i can get them on krill and frozen food. Hope you guys can help me because i can't find much on the net

thanks

they will definitely eat frozen food

Excpect them to be really skittish. Try not to have too much movement around the tank.

They are quite easy to get on frozen IME. Make sure the temp is nice and high.

I've got three small ones right now as well. I've got them eating chopped worms like they're going out of style. I run my temp 82-83F. They spend most of the time hiding when I'm around the tank. I have seen them out and about on occation, though.

Don't be afraid to go as high as 84F - 86F. These guys are very susceptible to ich when little, so make sure that temperature is stable above all else. If possible, feed them several times a day and be prepared for some outstanding growth rates.

These guys are amazing!!! Just got some and wish I had got into them sooner. Just a different kind of fish altogether from other fish ive kept. Got three of them right now (two arent mine) and they just go wild when I enter the room. I am the "giver of food." I think they are the cichla ocelaris or something like that. Sorry Robd, couldnt hold out anymore. Had to post.
